Preparing for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

On the 10 August 2011, the Federal Government released a report recommending that The Australian Government establish a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The NDIS is a new way of providing individualised support for people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers. This means that instead of providing support based on the number of places available in a support program, the NDIS provides individualised funding so people can get the care and support they need, based on their individual support needs, goals and aspirations.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will commence in the Albury Region from 1 July 2017. In the Wodonga and surrounding areas the commencement date is 1 October 2017.
